NORFOLK, Va. - A Chesapeake man was sentenced yesterday to two years and six months in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. This sentence will run consecutively to a six-year sentence for a separate fraud conviction.
According to court documents, on Dec. 1, 2025, Chesapeake Police responded to a 911 emergency response call for a domestic assault incident at a residence in Chesapeake involving Adrian Thomas Knight Jr., 42. Reports indicated Knight was cocking a firearm while battering an individual.
Even though he knew he had two firearms, when questioned, Knight stated, "I'm on federal probation, why would I have a gun?" Knight was arrested and an officer obtained a no-contact Emergency Protective Order against Knight that prohibited him from returning to the residence.
Around 3:30 a.m., despite being served with a no-contact emergency protective order, Knight returned to the residence and was again arrested.
At the time of the incident, Knight had been convicted of conspiracy to commit mail, bank, and wire fraud; wire fraud; and bank fraud, and sentencing in that case was pending. As a convicted felon, Knight was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Theophani K. Stamos, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Anthony A. Spotswood, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division, made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge Jamar K. Walker.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Clayton D. LaForge prosecuted the case.
