Cameron University's Visiting Writers Series, presented by the Department of Communications, English and Foreign Languages, will welcome poet Heather Kathleen Moody Hall on Monday, Feb. 2. In addition to reading from some of her work, Hall will share the history of open mic poets in Oklahoma.
The event takes place in Room 2060 of Nance-Boyer Hall starting at 7 p.m. It is open to the public at no charge. Light refreshments will be available, and the author will have books to sign and sell.
Hall is an indigenous poet, activist, and proprietor of Norman's Green Feather Book Company, where she regularly hosts book clubs, community events and book signings. She opposes book banning and has spoken at national and international gatherings on the role of the independent bookstore in the fight for freedom to read.
In addition to serving on the boards of Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association and Norman Cultural Connection, Hall is an active member of the American Booksellers Association. Earlier this year, she served as a judge for the National Book Foundation's 2025 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
Hall's appearance in the Visiting Writers series is co-sponsored by Cameron University Lectures and Concerts, Sigma Tau Delta and the CU Writer's Studio.
