Project to Replace Route 43/Elk River Bridge Delayed Until Early May

McDonald County - A project to replace the Missouri Route 43 bridge over the Elk River west of Anderson near the Cowskin Conservation Area is being delayed until early May, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Work is being delayed due to supply issues. In the meantime, Missouri Route 43 is OPEN to traffic until work resumes.

Work to replace the bridge began back in February. When completed, the new bridge will be slightly higher, 31 feet longer and six (6) feet wider than the current structure.

The project also includes ditch stabilization along Missouri Route 59 just north of McDonald County Route DD near Noel.

Once work resumes, the bridge will be CLOSED for up to 160 days with access to Cowskin Conservation Area maintained throughout the duration of the project.
