FPSC to Hold Special Commission Conference to Consider FPL’s Proposed Transmission Line Project

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) will hold a Special Commission Conference on Monday, May 11, 2026, to consider Florida Power & Light Company's (FPL) proposed Andytown-Oasis transmission line project in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.

On March 11, 2026, FPL filed a petition asking the FPSC to determine the need for four new transmission lines. According to the petition, the proposed project would provide additional transmission capacity for Miami-Dade County and help maintain compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards. NERC standards are federally enforceable rules that set minimum requirements for the reliable and secure operation of the bulk electric system.

A hearing was held on April 23, 2026, during which the FPSC received witness testimony and exhibits regarding the issues in the docket. The Office of Public Counsel (OPC) and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) intervened in the case and participated in the hearing.

Following the hearing, FPL, OPC, and EDF submitted post-hearing briefs. The FPSC will consider those filings, along with the testimony and evidence presented at the hearing, before issuing a decision at the May 11 Special Commission Conference.

The Special Commission Conference will be held at the following time and location:

Monday, May 11, 2026
9:30 a.m.

Betty Easley Conference Center
Joseph P. Cresse Hearing Room (Room 148)
4075 Esplanade Way
Tallahassee, Florida

A live broadcast of the Special Commission Conference will be available here (click "Watch Live and Archived PSC Events") and may be broadcast on the Florida Channel (check your local listing).
