The Gator Run

Boston, MA, January 14, 2026- New Balance debuts the Gator Run, a bold new lifestyle reinterpretation of a classic sport heritage model that is unapologetically unconventional.

Originally released in 1982, this low-profile sneaker fuses together retro roots with a sense of eccentricity through unexpected textures, colors and visual cues that push the boundaries of traditional sportswear. Its iconic toothy soles are paired with a glossy patent leather upper, embossed with a bold crocodile print. The result is a hybrid aesthetic: nostalgic yet progressive, familiar but unexpected, crafted for the runway and everyday style.

"In a marketplace full of refined silhouettes, the Gator Run is bold and unmistakable," said Taylor Canby, Director, Design. "Its distinct silhouette celebrates New Balance heritage while feeling fresh and serves as a reminder that design can be both functional and expressive. Sometimes the most memorable details come from revisiting the past and looking at solutions through a new lens."

Shot by renowned photographer and director Tom Emmerson, alongside Red Buoy Studio, the alligator-inspired campaign captures a striking, directional edge that mirrors the product itself. His vision brings a sophisticated yet playful spirit, infusing New Balance with a high-fashion lens.

The Gator Run will be available globally on NewBalance.com and select retailers beginning on January 21, 2026, for a suggested retail price of $130.

Product details:
