PASADENA, Calif - The City of Pasadena Public Works Department will be hosting the fourth and final public outreach event for the Jefferson Park Stormwater Capture Project Feasibility Study. The City invites the community to join the project team for a fourth pop-up event on Wednesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Jefferson Branch Library, Children and Teen Services, 1500 E. Villa Street. Community members are invited to view the refined above-ground park design that addresses community feedback, as well as to share input and connect with the project team.

In addition, project partner Amigos de los Ríos will lead youth-based educational activities, exploring sustainability, watershed connections, and native ecology.

In June 2025, the City secured a $191,180 Public Education and Community Engagement grant from Los Angeles County's Safe, Clean Water (SCWP) Program to support a comprehensive outreach and engagement plan that will accompany the Feasibility Study. The grant funding, awarded through the voter-approved SCWP Program, ensures that residents play a central role in shaping the project's vision and design.

The Feasibility Study will evaluate both underground stormwater capture infrastructure and potential above-ground park enhancements, focusing on strategies to improve stormwater runoff management and address water quality compliance while creating meaningful park improvements, such as new recreation areas and play structures, outdoor classrooms, and enhanced urban greening, among other potential improvements to be considered.

This fourth public outreach event for the project is the final opportunity to participate in the planning process and provide feedback to help shape the feasibility study. To ensure broad community participation, the City has hosted a series of bilingual community events, such as pop-up activities at the park, meetings for interested parties, community surveys, and partnerships with surrounding community partners.
