The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) is releasing new details about a sex abuse investigation.

Daniel R. Eggleston

Following the July 1st arrest of a 61-year-old man and subsequent news release requesting tips from the public, multiple people have come forward with information. As a result, Daniel R. Eggleston is now facing two additional charges: Sex Abuse in the First Degree and Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree.

It is important to note that none of the victims investigators are currently aware of were associated with the suspect through Mannahouse Church (formerly City Bible Church). Mannahouse has cooperated fully with the investigation.

Detectives still believe there may be more victims or community members with information who have not yet come forward, and they are asked to submit a tip. The case number is 21-801981.

Years-Long Sex Abuse Investigation Leads to Arrest; Additional Victims Sought

A years-long sex abuse investigation has resulted in an arrest, and detectives are working to identify additional victims.

In July 2021, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) was made aware of sexual assault allegations against a man identified as Daniel R. Eggleston. Detectives interviewed an adult female who reported that Eggleston sexually abused her numerous times between the ages of three and twelve. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified two additional young girls who had been assaulted by Eggleston.

On Friday, June 26, 2026, a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted the now 61-year-old Eggleston, a resident of Boring, Oregon, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, The United States Marshals Service arrested Eggleston in the 2200 block of Northeast Burnside Road in Gresham. He was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) and lodged on the following charges: Sex Abuse in the First Degree (10 counts), Rape in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree, Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, and Mistreatment in the First Degree.

"My heart goes out to the survivors who endured unimaginable abuse, and I want to acknowledge the courage it took to come forward," Chief Bob Day said. "These cases are incredibly difficult, and I hope the arrest represents an important step toward accountability for the suspect and healing for the victims. I'm grateful for the relentless work of our detectives, who spent years pursuing the facts, supporting the victims, and ensuring this case could be brought before the justice system."

Detectives believe there could be additional victims that have not made police reports. PPB is releasing Eggleston's photo to aid in the investigation.

Eggleston was a volunteer with a childcare program at Mannahouse Church (formerly City Bible Church) at 9200 Northeast Fremont Street. None of the victims that investigators are currently aware of were associated to the suspect through Mannahouse Church, nor are there any current allegations that Eggleston committed any crimes at the church. Mannahouse has cooperated fully with the investigation.

Anyone who believes they are a victim, or has information about this case, is urged to submit a tip. Submit a Tip

The case number is 21-801981.
