This evening, we learned that the Texas National Guard is preparing a deployment to Oregon - the latest in the Trump administration's attempts to treat American cities like military targets.
As I have said from the beginning, the number of federal troops we need in Portland is zero.
Not from Oregon. Not from California. Not from Texas. And not from anywhere else.
Our local police officers are focused on protecting Portlanders' right to protest peacefully and keeping our community safe. Federal troops will not make our community safer, period.
