ST. PETERSBURG - ARK Ellison Horus LLC is pleased to announce a collaboration with Moffitt Cancer Center focused on accelerating AI-driven solutions in oncology and life sciences as part of the proposal for the reimagined Historic Gas Plant District. Top Moffitt scientific talent - including the Moffitt Innovation & Entrepreneurship affiliated team with AccelerOnc entity ClearOnc - will move to SP-ARK Labs to create Speros by Moffitt at St. Pete, colocating with other entrepreneurs and startups to encourage cross collaboration among digital health and oncology innovators.
"Partnering with ARK Ellison Horus gives us access to state-of-the-art space and resources at SP-ARK Labs and extends the vision for Speros to Pinellas in a district primed for innovation," said Josh Carpenter, President of Speros and Chief Integration Officer for Moffitt Cancer Center. "Colocation of this type allows ideas to move quickly from research to real-world applications, accelerates the development of AI-driven solutions in oncology, and elevates the role of the multi county Tampa Bay region as a global leader in breakthrough AI technologies. This will help accelerate the translation of Moffitt's clinical and scientific expertise to more quickly bring new therapies to cancer patients around the world."
The collaboration is part of ARK Ellison Horus' Historic Gas Plant District development proposal, which is reimagining roughly 96 acres in downtown St. Petersburg as a hub for innovation, culture, housing and community assets. Under the agreement, Carpenter will work with ARK and its affiliates on AI innovation initiatives and exploration of development concepts at the Historic Gas Plant and the ARK Innovation Center.
"Speros by Moffitt represents the kind of applied innovation the Gas Plant District was designed to support," said Cathie Wood, Founder, CEO and CIO of ARK Invest. "This partnership brings artificial intelligence out of the abstract and into real-world deployment. By providing space and resources for Moffitt-affiliated AI teams, we are creating an environment where cutting-edge research, technology and talent converge to advance oncology solutions."
The development team, which includes KETTLER, ARK Invest, Ellison Development and Horus Construction, said the proposed district is intended to support economic growth, job creation and cultural activity while aligning with the city's long-term priorities. ARK Ellison Horus has previously announced partnerships with Moss, Kimley-Horn, Pinellas County Housing Authority, St. Petersburg Housing Authority and Evara Health.
