The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, sent a letter to Professor Khaled Ahmed El-Enany Ali Ezz, expressing his sincere congratulations on his appointment as the new Director-General of UNESCO.
In his message, the Minister emphasized that the high number of votes El-Enany received testifies to the international community's trust in his ability to successfully lead UNESCO in a complex and uncertain geopolitical context.
Minister Tajani recalled that Italy, one of UNESCO's largest contributors - both financially and in terms of human resources - had publicly and enthusiastically supported Professor El-Enany's candidacy from the outset, recognizing his vision and authoritativeness.
Minister Tajani expressed his hope of further strengthening collaboration between Italy and UNESCO in all areas of competence, ranging from culture to science and education.
