Two men charged with manslaughter for a shooting on Selkirk Avenue: C26-49941

Update:

As the result of an ongoing investigation into the homicide of 40-year-old Kingsley Murray BRUCE, two people have been arrested and charged.

On March 9, 2026, 25-year-old Emmanuel Max SPENCEwas located in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. He was charged with Manslaughter and was detained in custody.

On March 11, 2026, 39-year-old Thomas Jeremy (TJ) SPENCEwas located in the area of Bannerman Avenue and McKenzie Street. He was charged with Manslaughter and was detained in custody.

Investigators have determined the two accused and the victim were known to each other at the time of shooting.

As previously released:

On March 3, 2026, just after 3:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a gun call at an apartment block in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue.

North District General Patrol officers, along with members of the Tactical Support Team (TST), and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Unit (RPAS), attended and located an injured 40-year-old man. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

The Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Kingsley Murray BRUCE, a member of Poplar River First Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg.
