Free Haircuts For Kids Who Read With Their Barber March 2-6

Local Barbers Invited To Participate In Seventh Annual Nevada Reading Week Activity

In celebration of Nevada Reading Week, local barbers are partnering with the Las Vegas My Brother's Keeper Alliance to host "Read With My Barber 2026," an initiative encouraging youth literacy through mentorship and community engagement.

Children who read to their barber will receive a free haircut during participating dates. Barbers can participate by:

  • Wearing T-shirts to promote the week;
  • Making complimentary, age-appropriate books available at their shops;
  • Giving free haircuts to youth who read to their barber; and
  • Serving as a special reader March 2-6 at a nearby elementary school.

Read With My Barber events will take place at:

  • Masterpiece Barber College (Ward 3) Free haircuts Wednesday & Thursday, March 4-5, 3-5 p.m.
    3510 E. Bonanza Road, Suite 150

  • Heat City Fades (Ward 5)
    Free haircuts Wednesday & Thursday, March 4-5, 3-5 p.m.
    270 S. Decatur Blvd. Light refreshments will be served.

Read With My Barber highlights the important role barbers play as trusted mentors and reinforces that reading builds confidence, opportunity and community connection. Barbers interested in participating should call 702-460-5697. Read With My Barber is sponsored by the Las Vegas My Brother's Keeper Alliance, the Clark County School District, Masterpiece Barber College, Heat City Fades and the city of Las Vegas.
