AAFA Submits Comments to FTC on Digital Care Labeling

AAFA submits comments to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding AAFA's petition to allow the use of digital labeling to meet the requirements of the Care Labeling of Textile Wearing Apparel & Certain Piece Goods Rule. Responding to public feedback, AAFA clarifies that allowing, rather than mandating, digital labels provides better consumer information and accessibility throughout the product lifetime. More durable and less likely to be removed digital labels can provide plain language care instructions across multiple languages, including via test-to-speech, and thereby better serve consumers. Less label tape produces a smaller carbon footprint, and the proposed digital transition enhances transparency throughout a product's lifecycle, offering insights into options like resale, repair, rental, and recycling. #CutTheTape.
