Employee Parking Policies FAQ

To reduce congestion in high-demand areas and improve parking for all students, faculty and staff, Georgia College & State University will implement the first phase of a new parking plan this fall.

Two levels of parking permits will be available to employees, each listed as follows:

  • A $240 parking permit grants access to all employee-designated lots.
  • A $50 permit grants access to the Irwin Street parking lot.

Registration for employee parking permits will open at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2. Register online.

  • NOTE: Permits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limited number of $240 permits available.
  • Students will register for parking permits beginning July 1.

Parking FAQs

Who needs to have a parking permit?

  • Any student or employee parking a vehicle on campus is required to register for a valid university parking permit and to know and follow all university parking regulations.
  • Faculty and staff are eligible for employee parking permits.

Can I register multiple vehicles?

  • Yes. Multiple vehicles can be added to the same permit, but only one vehicle can be on campus at the same time.

How are permits paid for?

  • Payments in the amount of $20 per month for salaried positions (paid monthly) and $10 per for hourly employees (paid biweekly) will be deducted automatically from employee paychecks.

What happens if I would like a $240 parking permit but do not get one?

  • Parking and Transportation will maintain a waitlist for anyone that would like a $240 parking permit, and employees will be contacted in the order they registered as spaces become available.

Will I get a sticker or decal to display on my vehicle to prove I have a permit?

  • No. Permits are associated to license plate numbers and will be checked by Parking Services, via license plate recognition software.

Will new signage be installed to clearly identify student vs. staff/faculty parking?

  • Yes

Do I need to be on campus to register for a parking permit?

  • Parking registration can be completed using any computer or wireless device.

Can I register by phone?

  • All permits must be registered online at georgiacollege.aimsparking.com/, either on mobile or desktop. Telephone registration (by voice) is not available.

Do I need to register every year?

  • After the initial registration, permits will renew automatically from year to year, unless otherwise directed.

If I register for an Irwin Street parking permit, will there be shuttles?

  • Yes. Shuttles will serve the Irwin Street parking lot from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fridays.

How can I track shuttle locations and schedules?

  • Download the PassioGo app to track shuttle schedules and locations.

When will parking enforcement begin?

  • Permits will go into effect and enforcement will begin Monday, Aug. 18.

Will ticket prices remain the same?

  • No. Parking violations will be ticketed at a higher rate than in the past to ensure compliance and assure that spots remain available for those who purchased permits. A driver could also receive multiple tickets in one day if a vehicle is not moved over three hours after a ticket is issued.

Will there be designated guest spaces?

  • Yes. Guest parking spaces will be available at Irwin Street, Centennial Center and West Campus parking.
