Homicide Investigation - Battery Drive
GREENSBORO, NC (April 17, 2026) - Greensboro Police are investigating the homicide of an 83-year-old woman found dead in her home Friday morning.
At approximately 8:51 a.m. Friday, GPD officers, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS were dispatched to the 5800 block of Battery Drive in reference to a death investigation. They located a woman, identified as Chong McDaniel, inside a residence and pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities notified her next of kin.
This is the city's sixth homicide of 2026.
This is an active investigation; Additional details are not immediately available for release.
Detectives are not seeking any suspects at this time, and there is no danger to the community.
