Taipei, September 18, 2025. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), through its Taiwan Representative Office, took part in the fourth edition of SDG Asia, organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE). The Bank showcased the impact of its programs and investment opportunities to the Taiwanese public.
As part of this event, CABEI participated for the first time in the prestigious Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) 2025, achieving a remarkable result: Guatemala's Hospital Infrastructure and Equipment Investment Program was honored with the Silver Award, highlighting its significant contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through the construction of five national hospitals and the provision of 1,099 new hospital beds.
With a total investment of US$312.1 million, including US$193.2 million financed by CABEI, of which US$79 million were provided by the Republic of Korea, an extra-regional partner of the Bank, and US$118.9 million contributed by the Government of Guatemala, the initiative is set to expand medical coverage, strengthen care in critical specialties, and reduce healthcare gaps, directly benefiting 3.4 million people.
Held from September 11 to 13 at the World Trade Center in Taipei, the 2025 SDG Asia event gathered more than 35,000 local and international participants and over one hundred exhibitors, including companies, universities, international organizations, and NGOs, solidifying its reputation as the region's leading platform to showcase projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
CABEI's presence at this international platform underscores the importance of its representation in Asia through the Taipei office, which strengthens cooperation ties and promotes the global visibility of high-impact projects that benefit Central America.
