GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Forty-six years ago, on 15 January 1979,
the Navy approved the establishment of the Religious Program
Specialist rating. Religious Program Specialists continue to
support Marines, Sailors, and their families in various aspects of
spiritual readiness.
2. Since their inception, Religious Program Specialists have
enhanced the capabilities of our Navy chaplains, allowing commanders
to better support the free exercise of religion and maintain a
posture of spiritual fitness.
3. I am grateful for everything that the Religious Program
Specialists bring to the fight. On behalf of our beloved Marine
Corps, thank you. Your continued contribution to the sea services
is vital and will never go unnoticed.
