Delaware State Fire Commission Announces National Search for Director of the Delaware State Fire School

The Delaware State Fire Commission announces that it is conducting a national search for the next Director of the Delaware State Fire School.

The Director serves as the chief executive and administrative officer of the Delaware State Fire School and reports directly to the Delaware State Fire Commission. This position is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the Fire School, including oversight of training operations, personnel, facilities, and fiscal administration. The Director ensures that all programs are delivered in compliance with applicable state requirements and nationally recognized standards, while advancing the mission of preparing and supporting Delaware's fire, rescue, and emergency medical services personnel.

The Delaware State Fire School serves as the State's primary training and education provider for fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. Since its establishment, the Fire School has been a critical component of Delaware's public safety system, providing standardized training, certification programs, and professional development opportunities for first responders across the State. The school delivers a wide range of programs, including structural firefighting, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, fire prevention, leadership development, and emergency medical services training. Through classroom instruction and hands-on training at multiple facilities, the Fire School supports operational readiness and promotes safe and effective emergency response.
