Robbery/Carjacking – Arrest: C25-70659

On April 4, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the sub 100 block of Keewatin Street for the report of a male who was assaulted and robbed of his vehicle.

Responding West District General Patrol members spoke with the 25-year-old male victim who relayed that he had been threatened and physically assaulted by an adult male suspect who proceeded to steal and flee in his 2019 Honda Civic. The victim did not require medical attention.

Subsequently, several reports were received regarding the stolen vehicle being operated nearby in an erratic manner. After colliding with another motorist on St. Matthews Avenue between Strathcona and Ashburn Streets and rendering it inoperable, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. With assistance from members of the K9 Unit, officers tracked the suspect to the 1300 block of St. Matthews Avenue, where he was placed under arrest.

The suspect was transported to hospital in stable condition where he received medical attention for injuries resulting from the collision. The occupants of the struck vehicle also attended hospital for medical attention for non life-threatening injuries sustained in the collision.

The victims and the suspect were previously unknown to one another.

A 24-year-old male of Winnipeg faces the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or Combination of Both

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
