FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Irvine has received two prestigious recognitions for its Fiscal Year 2025-27 Adopted Budget: The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award - with Special Recognition for Performance Measures - and the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) Operating Budget Excellence Award.
The GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes governments that meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets nationally recognized criteria as a policy document, operations guide, financial plan, and communications device. It's the 35th year the City has received the award.
In addition, the City received the CSMFO Operating Budget Excellence Award, which recognizes agencies that meet established standards for excellence in municipal budgeting and financial reporting. The award highlights the City's commitment to clear financial communication, strategic planning, and responsible fiscal management.
The awards are valid for a two-year period. During this time, the City's current budget continues to meet program requirements to ensure eligibility for future recognition.
Together, these honors underscore the City of Irvine's continued commitment to fiscal transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources.
