Bridge Repairs on I-84 and Route 8 in Waterbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that bridge repairs will be performed on I-84 and Route 8 around the Waterbury Interchange. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, May 4 and be completed on Friday, October 9, 2026. This project ensures the bridges remain in a state of good repair. The locations included are:

• Exit 31 Route 8 North (Bridge 01716)
• Exit 17 Chase Parkway on-ramp over I-84 (Bridge 03204)
• South Elm Street over I-84 (Bridge 03197)
• Baldwin Street over I-84 (Bridge 04318)

This project is being performed by Hammonasset Construction.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be left or right lane closures on I-84 or Route 8 from May 4 to October 9, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Traffic control signing patterns will be in place with State Police to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
