2026-27 Garmany Concert Series Announced

Opening the season on October 15, 2026 will be Natalie Tenenbaum, with her performance, The Piano // Reimagined. Tenenbaum is one of the country's most electrifying keyboard artists, will perform in a wide-ranging program of classical and contemporary works.

On November 19, 2026, the second fall performance will feature the Reverón Piano Trio in The Art of the Trio. The internationally acclaimed group will perform a piece by Fanny Mendelssohn as well as a Reverón-commissioned work by Grammy-nominated composer Miguel del Águila.

On January 21, 2027, the series will welcome the Pacifica Quartet, featuring music by Samuel Barber, Anton Dvořák, and Gabriela Lena Frank. The multiple Grammy award-winning quartet will showcase masterworks including Dvořák's beloved String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, op. 96, "American."

Rounding out the series on April 1, 2027, the final concert of the season will feature Solomiya Ivakhiv & Friends in Ukraine: A Musical Journey. Ukrainian-born violinist Solomiya Ivakhiv offers a program celebrating the heritage, resilience, and vibrant musical tradition of Ukraine.

Curation of the series is led by Gilda Lyons, artistic and executive director; Steve Metcalf, artistic advisor; and Samual Martin, administrative director.

All performances are set for 7:30 p.m. and held in Millard Auditorium, except for the Pacifica Quartet's January 21 performance, which will be held in Lincoln Theater.

Tickets for each concert are $25 for the public. Admission is free for University of Hartford students, faculty, and staff. Since its founding in 2009, the Richard P. Garmany Concert Series has established itself as one of The Hartt School's signature activities attracting national attention for the quality and diversity of its offerings. The series has played to capacity houses in Millard and been hailed as a "who's who of American chamber music."

Under the leadership of founding curator Steve Metcalf (2009-2016; 2021-25), curator Larry Alan Smith (2016-2021), and executive director Gilda Lyons (2021-2026), the series- dedicated to bringing a wide range of distinguished small ensembles and recitalists to the University of Hartford campus-has become recognized as one of Connecticut's premier live music attractions.
