National AusAlert Emergency Warning System Test Scheduled

Published on Friday, 17 July 2026 at 4:27:00 PM

The Australian Government will conduct a nationwide test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system on Monday, 27 July 2026.

AusAlert is Australia's new national emergency warning system, designed to deliver urgent alerts and critical safety information directly to mobile phones and connected devices in affected areas during emergencies.

As part of the test, all mobile phones across Australia will receive a loud alert at 12.00 pm (AWST), including devices that are set to silent mode. This is a planned test only, and no action is required from community members.

Residents who use a phone that others in their household may not be aware of are encouraged to consider turning the device off or placing it in a secure location ahead of the scheduled test.

The national test is intended to help ensure the AusAlert system is functioning effectively and to familiarise the community with how emergency warnings may be received in the future.
