CX-270914: Georgia Tech Research Corporation - A Hybrid Desalination System for Clean Water and Mineral Recovery

Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development of a desalination system based on air gap diffusion distillation (AGDD) that combines brine concentration and crystallization into one component, thus allowing for greater than 95 percent water recovery with a slurry byproduct containing concentrated minerals.

Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development of a desalination system based on air gap diffusion distillation (AGDD) that combines brine concentration and crystallization into one component, thus allowing for greater than 95 percent water recovery with a slurry byproduct containing concentrated minerals. Specifically, the project team will (1) fabricate, test, validate, and refine a prototype AGDD system to meet operational performance metrics, (2) fabricate, test, and validate a bench scale AGDD prototype system, and (3) refine process and outputs for final AGDD system deliverable.
