Community Input Sought to Rename Lord Stirling Community School
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (September 28, 2026) - The Board of Education is inviting City residents to help select a new name for Lord Stirling Community School.
The nomination period runs through Friday, Oct. 2. Residents may submit one suggestion in English or Spanish via the New Brunswick Public Schools website.
Nominations could be a former district employee or another individual who has made notable contributions to the community. Living people are ineligible.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Aubrey Johnson said the initiative aims to honor historical figures and local leaders connected to New Brunswick.
This follows a 2025 renaming initiative where Woodrow Wilson School became Robert J. Boyler School to honor a longtime educator.
The school board ultimately makes all final naming decisions through formal action.
