Klobuchar Statement on Release of Federal Funds for Blatnik Bridge Project

Senator Klobuchar recently called on the Administration to release the funds for the Blatnik Bridge replacement project

MINNESOTA - Today, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar issued a statement on the release of federal funds for the Blatnik Bridge. This comes after Senators Klobuchar, Smith, and Baldwin called on the Administration to release funding they had been withholding to replace the aging Blatnik Bridge.

"A safe and reliable Blatnik Bridge is critical for Minnesota's economic future and for people across our entire region," said Klobuchar. "Replacing this bridge will help Minnesotans who rely on it every day to get to work or to visit friends and family. We made the case to two Administrations on why this funding is so crucial, and now this incredibly important project can move forward without further unnecessary delays and increased costs."

The Blatnik Bridge is a vital connection between Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, with over 33,000 vehicles passing through daily and 265,000 trucks transporting nearly $4 billion in goods annually. Since the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Klobuchar has been advocating for federal funds to replace the Blatnik Bridge.
