Mental health support that meets college students where they are

Starting college is an exciting milestone-but it can also bring academic pressure, new relationships, greater independence and challenges that may feel unfamiliar.

Having someone to talk to can make a meaningful difference.

During registration at Alice Lloyd College, Vena Sumner-Burns, LCSW, joined physician liaisons Steven Collins and Jason Creech to connect with students and share information about mental health resources available through AdventHealth.

The campus visit was part of a broader effort to make care easier to access for students, including those attending college outside AdventHealth's traditional service area.

For students balancing classes, activities, work and life away from home, getting support should feel simple-not like another challenge to navigate.

With mental health resources available by phone, students have a more convenient way to learn about care and connect with support when they need it.

Sumner-Burns, Collins and Creech shared that being on campus during registration gave them the opportunity to begin conversations early and remind students that help is available.
