On September 2nd, 2025 at 10:15 a.m., SPD responded to the apartments located at 2882 West Elliott Drive on a report of an assault. 911 was advised by a 3rd party that an assault took place and the female victim left the location to seek medical treatment. As 911 was advised of the names of the involved parties, it was discovered that a No Contact Order was in place that prohibited the male suspect from having any contact with the victim. As officers arrived at the apartment, they were advised that the male suspect, later identified as Sergio Orduno-Gallegos (31), was inside the apartment, possibly with two small children. The first responding officers attempted to contact Gallegos but were unsuccessful. The victim in the assault was finally located and officers developed probable cause to arrest Gallegos for a felony violation of the No Contact Order as well as two counts of 2nd Degree Assault - Domestic Violence.

Due to the concern for the small children possibly in the apartment with Gallegos, multiple specialty units responded to the location to include SWAT, Hostage Negotiators (HNT), Air Support Unit (ASU) and K9. The location was surrounded and HNT began efforts to communicate with Gallegos. As the communication endeavor continued, officers began making phone calls to establish where the other minor children were. It was determined that there were no children in the apartment with Gallegos. HNT was finally able to establish communication with the suspect and after some brief conversations, Gallegos peacefully surrendered to officers at 12:30pm after exiting the apartment.

Sergio Orduno-Gallegos was taken into custody and booked into the Spokane County Jail for a felony violation of a Domestic Violence No Contact Order and two counts of 2nd Degree Assault - Domestic Violence.

If you or someone you know is the victim of Domestic Violence, please contact the YWCA Domestic Violence Helpline at 509-326-CALL or 911.
