On 10 October, Acting Consul General Wang Junchao attended the Federation of New Zealand Shenzhen Societies 8th Anniversary Gala Dinner. The event was also attended by Minister of Health Simeon Brown, Members of Parliament Carlos Cheung, Nancy Lu, Barbara Edmonds and Jenny Salesa, Deputy Mayor of Auckland Desley Simpson, Chairman of Shenzhen Overseas Exchange Association Liu Xin, Chairman of the Federation of New Zealand Shenzhen Societies Zhang Yun, as well as around 200 members of the local Chinese community.
In his remarks, Wang reviewed China's achievements in economic and social development and the fruitful outcomes of practical cooperation between China and New Zealand. He also introduced Chinese President Xi Jinping's Global Governance Initiative, commended the Association's contributions to serving the Chinese community and promoting exchanges, and expressed the Consulate General's readiness to work with all sectors in the district to further deepen cooperation in various fields and write a new chapter in China-New Zealand friendship.
The event also featured a photo exhibition on Shenzhen, and entrepreneurs from both sides exchanged views on China-New Zealand economic and trade cooperation.
