American Family Insurance is mobilizing additional claims resources to support customers affected by the Hawk Fire in the Reno, Nevada, area.
The wildfire, which began on Saturday, Aug. 22, has impacted communities across northern Nevada. American Family is working closely with local agency owners and claims professionals to support customers with recovery efforts.
American Family has also deployed a catastrophe response vehicle to the Reno area to provide in-person assistance and claims support for affected customers.
"Our priority is helping our customers recover as quickly and smoothly as possible," said Tim Constien, chief claims officer for American Family Insurance. "We've mobilized additional claims resources and are reaching out to customers in affected areas to provide support and begin the claims and recovery process. We know this is a difficult and uncertain time for many, and we're committed to helping our customers understand their coverage and access the support they need as they begin moving forward."
American Family's customer care team has been connecting with customers in impacted areas to assess immediate needs and coordinate assistance. Local property adjusters, catastrophe response specialists, and large loss experts have been mobilized to assess damage and support customers throughout the recovery process.
As of Friday morning, American Family has received more than 35 home and auto claims related to the Hawk Fire.

How to file a claim
Customers should prioritize their safety and follow guidance from local emergency management officials. When it is safe to do so, customers are encouraged to document any damage and begin the claims process as soon as possible.
