Tim Rabolt, manager of the Collegiate Recovery Program, joined President Kimo Ah Yun on this month's episode of 620 WTMJ's "The Upswing."
Rabolt discussed his role at Marquette, which supports students in recovery and pursuing sobriety. Drawing from his own experience with sobriety and Alcoholics Anonymous, he described Marquette as a wellness-forward institution and shared insights from his previous work developing university social cultures not centered on alcohol. President Ah Yun highlighted the positive impact of the recovery program on student success.
With Brewers Opening Day approaching, the conversation also explored the idea of "sober tailgates" and alcohol-free social experiences. Rabolt pointed to recovery-focused events in other cities as inspiration and discussed growing interest in non-alcoholic and zero-proof options. President Ah Yun also addressed Marquette's commitment to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in teaching, learning and administration, emphasizing that AI initiatives should be guided by Jesuit values such as ethics, discernment and care for the whole person.
Hosted by Marquette alumnus Jeff Sherman, "The Upswing" highlights the ever-changing world of business and commerce in Milwaukee and across the state of Wisconsin. President Ah Yun is joined each month by an expert from campus to discuss their work.
