ODOT Paint-the-Plow contest under way

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Monday, March 16, 2026) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 2 is accepting applications for its annual Paint-the-Plow contest until Friday, April 3.

The contest is open to high schools and vocational schools within ODOT District 2's nine-county region: Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood and Williams counties. Applications and contest guidelines have been sent to school administration.

Plow blades will be delivered to participating schools during the week of April 13 and picked up the week of May 11.

The designs will be shared on ODOT District 2's Facebook page where the public may vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced in May by news release and on the district's Facebook page.

The Paint-the-Plow program allows students to paint an ODOT snowplow blade which may be displayed at local community events. In recognition of America's 250th birthday this year, participants are encouraged to create designs that honor our nation or recognize Ohio's national contributions. Students may also create designs featuring a safety message, or pride in their school or state.
