The City Council on Tuesday recognized outstanding Marines, approved a pool rehabilitation project and conducted other business.
During the presentation part of the meeting, Council Members recognized Marines from the City's adopted Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton and presented certificates of commendation to the "Marine of the Quarter" Lance Corporal Nathaniel F. J. Snader and "Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter" Sergeant Hector Solis.
The Council also proclaimed May as Jewish American Heritage Month.
In other news, Council Members unanimously awarded an agreement for a Sierra Recreation Center pool rehabilitation project to include new pool replastering and the replacement of all pool mechanical equipment.
To complete the Mission Viejo Fuel Reduction Project, the Council unanimously voted to appropriate the last of the remaining funds from the $2 million CAL FIRE State Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund grant that was awarded to the City in 2023.
At the midpoint of the City's two-year Budget, Council Members discussed and approved revisions and appropriations to the budget.
