Bellway to provide £2.2 million for local services and infrastructure in Devon
An investment of more than £2.2 million in local services and infrastructure for Devon is being made by housebuilder Bellway.
The money is being provided through the planning agreements for its three housing developments in the county, which between them are delivering 423 new homes.
Bellway is currently building at Empress Gardens in Tiverton and Libbets Grange in Crediton, while it completed work at its Fox Mill Gardens development in Willand in October.
The contributions are helping to fund a range of services and facilities to benefit people in the county, and £490,000 of the total sum has already been paid out.
Bellway South West Senior Sales Manager Rachel Way said: "We are contributing a very significant sum to support services and infrastructure in Devon, and the money already paid out has made a real difference to local communities in the county.
"Our Fox Mill Gardens development in Willand is generating funding of more than £500,000 and all but £60,000 of this has now been paid. Part of this money was used to create a new pump track for BMX and mountain bike riders in Jubilee Field, giving them opportunities to get outside, have fun and meet others who also love the sport.
"As part of our current developments in Tiverton and Crediton, we are committed to investing a further £1.6 million in the county. We place great importance on supporting communities wherever we build new homes and we look forward to deepening our connections with Tiverton and Crediton as our developments in those towns take shape."
Bellway built 125 homes at Fox Mill Gardens in Willand, where contributions include £52,000 for Willand Health and Community Centre, £125,000 towards off-site open space including the pump track, £250,000 towards education including facilities at Willand Primary School, and £100,000 towards bus service improvements.
Libbets Grange in Crediton, where Bellway is building 257 homes, will bring more than £1.6 million of investment. This includes £856,663 for primary education and £675,000 for improved bus services.
The 41-home Empress Gardens development in Tiverton has provided £23,000 towards affordable housing in the area.
