Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., a leader in propulsion-agnostic bus and coach mobility solutions, today announced that it has delivered a new Enviro200 midibus to Scottish independent operator Elizabeth Yule Transport.
The new bus, which was bought directly from the manufacturer, joins a similar example in the Elizabeth Yule fleet that was procured earlier this year through an asset finance company.
Both are midibuses with a compact length of just 8.9m and width of 2.47m, ensuring great manoeuvrability on the operator's scheduled bus services that link its base in Pitlochry with Kinloch Rannoch, Blair Atholl and Calvine over narrow roads typical for the Scottish Highlands environment.
Despite their small dimensions, the buses offer room for 30 seated passengers and are fully equipped with accessible passenger information including audio-visual next-stop announcements and hearing loops.
Managing Director Ricky Morton, who started as a mechanic in the business some 28 years ago and has since purchased and taken over the operation of the company from his great aunt and company founder Elizabeth Yule, welcomed the latest new addition to his fleet: "This second delivery of the Enviro200 continues the renewal of our service bus fleet and further upgrades our customer experience and comfort on our local bus routes here in Highland Perthshire.
"Besides wheelchair access and USB phone charging for passengers, new features like next-stop announcements and hearing loops improve the passenger experience and meet modern accessibility requirements.
"The investment has allowed us to replace and sell on our earlier-model Enviro200, completing our current fleet of buses and coaches to a fully Euro VI-compliant standard.
"I'm sure the previous buses' solid performance will be more than matched by our new buses, which impress already with their design and specification. We are proud to be supporting Alexander Dennis manufacturing here in Scotland".
Charlie Miller, Retail Sales Director for Alexander Dennis, added: "We're delighted that Ricky has shown continued trust in Alexander Dennis to replace his two 18-plate Enviro200, which were the last classic-model buses to come off the production line.
"Our new specification will be appealing to drivers and customers as they board. Thanks to our team in Scarborough who added seatbelts and prepared the bus, allowing us to quickly meet our customer's expectations thanks to our programme of stock build buses."
