ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona's men's club hockey team will host a Purple Puck event on Sunday, Feb. 7, when the Nittany Lions host Shippensburg University at Galactic Ice Rink in Altoona. General admission is $10 and $5 for students.

There will be raffle baskets donated by dozens of local businesses and a silent auction that includes autographed hockey gloves from Hollidaysburg native and current Chicago Blackhawk player Sam Lafferty. Bidding begins at 1 p.m.

The game begins at 3 p.m. with a ceremony to honor and support those who are fighting cancer, to celebrate those who have beaten it, and to honor families that have lost someone to the disease.

Proceeds will benefit the Sideline Cancer Assistance Fund through the Griffith Family Foundation.
