Savannah, Ga. - U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff today announced new resources to upgrade the Georgia Ports.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock secured key resources in bipartisan government funding legislation for ongoing dredging and maintenance projects at the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering $48.9 million for the ongoing dredging of the Savannah Harbor project to accommodate vessel traffic and support ongoing operations.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering $17.95 million for ongoing dredging of the Brunswick Harbor project.
"These upgrades to the Ports of Brunswick and Savannah will strengthen supply chains and support opportunity and prosperity in coastal Georgia and statewide," Sen. Ossoff said.
"The Brunswick and Savannah ports are crucial economic hubs for the Peach State," said Senator Warnock. "I am proud to have worked alongside Senator Ossoff to bring nearly $67 million in federal funds to help maintain the ports and make sure they remain economic powerhouses for years to come."
In 2024, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock delivered over $48 million to install new electric charging infrastructure for ships at the Port of Savannah and the Port of Brunswick.
Also in 2024, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock delivered $15 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation to help upgrade infrastructure at the Port of Brunswick - improving operations, creating economic opportunities, and strengthening Georgia's supply chains.
In 2022, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock's Port of Brunswick Navigation Channel Improvement Act was signed into law to help authorize upgrades to the Port's navigation channel.
