Street Widening Project on 91st, Memorial to Mingo to Begin January 16
1/2/2025
The City of Tulsa will begin a street widening project on East 91st Street between S. Mingo Rd. and S. Memorial Dr. starting Thursday, January 16.
This project consists of widening E. 91st St. between S. Memorial Dr. and S. Mingo Rd. to five lanes, as well as adding bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street.
Additional improvements include:
-
Milling the roadway, which involves removing the old surface, repairing and adding areas where needed, and paving with new asphalt
-
Extension of stormwater box under E. 91st St.
-
Traffic light upgrades
-
Installing new stormwater drainage systems designed to manage a 100-year flood
-
Upgrading waterlines to improve service reliability
The initial phase of work will involve clearing and grubbing along the roadside, which is expected to last about two weeks. Once completed, lanes will be reduced with possible lane closures as crews begin construction. As the project progresses, the City will alert citizens to traffic control measures and closures.
Access to all neighborhoods and businesses will remain open during this project. Blue business access signs will also be posted to guide traffic to businesses in the area. Tulsans are encouraged to continue supporting local businesses near construction zones rather than avoiding these areas.
The City of Tulsa has contracted with Tri-Star Construction for this $12,800,000 Improve Our Tulsa 2 project. Completion of this project is scheduled for January 2027, with updates to come.
As the initial phase of work kicks off, a neighborhood meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, at 6 p.m. at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St., Tulsa, OK, 74133.
