Summer season is here! Libraries are open and this is the best time of year to visit the library.

MCFL ramps up programs for summer with the Summer Reading Club (SRC). Summer Reading is for EVERYONE, not just kids, but research shows that kids benefit academically from reading during the summer. Everyone who signs up for SRC gets a free book to keep and a reading challenge card. When you finish the reading challenges, we have super fun finisher prizes for you. If you have limited time to visit the library in person, you can participate in the SRC online through Beanstack. Make sure you visit the library to get your free book!

Father's Day is celebrated on June 21! If you are trying to think of a good gift for dad, spending time with him may be the best gift you can offer. MCFL has a plethora of new Outdoor Adventure Kits including volleyballs, basketballs, footballs, tennis balls, pickleballs, bocce, corn hole and much more. Check out a kit and give your dad the gift of your time this Father's Day!

We celebrate LGBT and Caribbean American authors this month. We will highlight authors weekly on Facebook and Instagram with suggested books. We encourage everyone to read some of the featured books. Reading gives you great insights into different points of view.

Are you traveling this summer to a location where people speak a different language? If so, Transparent Languages, our online resource of the month, can help. You can learn useful phrases, vocabulary and grammar in over 100 different languages on Transparent Languages. There are excellent courses for English learner too!

On Friday, June 19th all MCFL libraries will be closed as the nation celebrates Juneteenth National Independence Day. Signed into law in 2021, this holiday commemorates the day in 1865, when enslaved African American in Galveston Texas learned of their emancipation and freedom.
