Mayor Carmella Mantello and Chief DeWolf Announce Promotion of Brandon Cipperly to Captain
Troy, NY (Jan 15) - Mayor Carmella Mantello and Chief of the Troy Police Department, Dan DeWolf are proud to announce the promotion of Brandon Cipperly to the rank of Captain. This significant milestone recognizes Cipperly's exceptional dedication, leadership, and years of service to the community and the department.
Cipperly joined the Troy Police Department in 2008, beginning his law enforcement career as a Patrolman on the midnight shift. Throughout his 17-year career in the department, Cipperly has worked in several positions, most recently as a Detective Sergeant. Over those 17 years, Cipperly has exemplified professionalism and a commitment to public safety, earning the respect of colleagues, community members, and leadership alike.
In his tenure, Cipperly has also served as Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician, Lead Firearms Instructor, Honor Guard, Mobile Field Unit Sergeant, and has been assigned to the United States Marshal Service Reginal Fugitive Task Force in New York and New Jersey. Cipperly has played a pivotal role in implementing community policing initiatives, solving high profile cases, and modernizing departmental operations. As Captain, Cipperly will assist in overseeing the department upholds its mission to ensuring public safety, fostering trustful relationships with the members of the community, and maintaining integrity.
Mayor Carmella Mantello expressed her excitement of the promotion saying: "I am thrilled to congratulate Brandon on his well-deserved promotion to the rank of Captain in our police department. Captain Cipperly has dedicated almost two decades of outstanding service to our community, demonstrating a true commitment safety and the wellbeing of our amazing city."

City of Troy Police Chief, Daniel DeWolf speaking at the promotion ceremony held at Troy City Hall, praised Captain Cipperly for his unwavering dedication saying: "Captain Cipperly represents the best of our department. He has earned this promotion through many years of hard work, compassion, and leadership. We look forward to seeing Captain Cipperly's continued impact to create a safer city."
