MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez will speak at Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday, March 31, in the Mukund S. Kulkarni Theatre.

Hernandez is president and CEO of Tierra Luna Engineering LLC and was selected in 2004 to begin training as a mission specialist as part of NASA's astronaut candidate class. His autobiography, "Reaching for the Stars," inspired the film "A Million Miles Away," which tells the story of Hernandez's life from a child migrant worker to achieving his dream of becoming an astronaut and traveling to space.

Hernandez's presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by an audience question-and-answer session at 6:45 p.m., and a meet and greet at 7 p.m. The event is free for students and community members.

Students should register on Discover East. Other community members should register using this online registration form.

The event is presented by the Offices of Student Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Student Engagement and the Pennsylvania Center for Latino Research.
