Secretary-General of ASEAN Meets with Vice Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Brazil

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 18 August 2026, met with H.E. Anna Flávia Franco, Vice Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Brazil, in Brasilia, during his working visit to Brazil. They exchanged views on shared environmental and climate priorities and explored opportunities to further strengthen ASEAN-Brazil cooperation. Both sides also reflected on Brazil's successful hosting of 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (COP30) in Belém, and leadership of Brazil in Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and discussed ways to build on the momentum towards UNFCCC COP31 and CBD COP 17, to be held later this year in Türkiye and Armenia, respectively.
