San Mateo County ― Caltrans has scheduled intermittent ramp and lane closures of U.S. 101 in San Mateo County so that crews can perform paving, guardrail, and electrical work. This phase of the work will continue through Friday, July 31 between South San Francisco and East Palo Alto.

Intermittent nighttime lane and ramp closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the following weeknights:

Northbound U.S. 101

  • Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 31

Southbound U.S. 101

  • Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 31

Drivers should follow posted detour signs when ramps are closed.

This work is part of the $177M U.S. 101 (San Mateo County) Multi-Asset Rehabilitation & Roadside Safety Project. The project scope includes paving, guardrail improvements, transportation management system enhancements, drainage upgrades, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps. The project will bring operational improvements and promote economic vitality in the region. The project is funded by the State's Highway Operation and Protection Plan (SHOPP), a "fix-it-first" program that funds California highway repair and preservation.

All work is weather dependent. Please drive with caution. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
