State Visit by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to the United Mexican States, 29 November 2025

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will make a State Visit to the United Mexican States from 30 November to 3 December 2025, at the invitation of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will make a State Visit to the United Mexican States from 30 November to 3 December 2025, at the invitation of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. This is President Tharman's first State Visit to Latin America, and comes as Singapore and Mexico commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
President Tharman will be accorded a State Welcome Ceremony at the National Palace in Mexico City, following which he will meet with President Sheinbaum. He will also have meetings with Head of Government of Mexico City Clara Brugada, President of the Senate Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, Senators, and Governors of various Mexican states, and business leaders. President Tharman will, in addition, lay a wreath at the Monumento a los Niños Héroes (Monument to the Heroic Cadets).
President Tharman will inaugurate the opening of the Mexico-Singapore Business Forum and the opening of the El galeón Acapulco - Manila SOMOS PACIFICO El mundo que emergió del Trópico (The Acapulco - Manila Galleon: We Are the Pacific, a World Born of the Tropics) exhibition. Organised in collaboration with the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) and National Gallery Singapore (NGS), the exhibition features nearly 80 works from Singapore's National Collection, alongside artefacts from Mexico and beyond.
President Tharman will be accompanied by Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Senior Minister of State for Education David Neo, Minister of State for National Development and for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, Members of Parliament Ang Wei Neng and Mariam Jafaar, as well as officials from the President's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Enterprise Singapore. President Tharman will also be joined by a business delegation led by the Singapore Business Federation and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation.
