Congressman Deluzio’s Office Helps Secure FEMA Funds to Repair Findlay Township Road Closed Since 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that his office successfully helped Findlay Township secure delayed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds to repair the site of a landslide that indefinitely closed Camp Meeting Road in 2018. The community has been using a detour to get around the area for close to seven years.

"I'm proud that my office was able to get things moving at FEMA and get Findlay Township the funding they were waiting for," said Congressman Deluzio. "It's a key part of my job to fight for our community to get federal agencies working for the people of Western PA. I look forward to celebrating the long-awaited re-opening of Camp Meeting Road sometime soon!"

"Since 2018, Camp Meeting Road, a collector street in Findlay Township, has been closed due to a very sizable slip. After having evaluated the conditions of the slip and the repair that was needed, it was evident that Findlay would need financial assistance to install a roadway embankment stabilization solution. To address this priority, the Township applied for a Hazard Mitigation Grant under FEMA in 2022. With the help of Congressman Deluzio's office, the Township was awarded $882,000 for Phase 2 of the project, which will account for mobilization activity and construction work." - Brandon J. Stanick, Assistant Township Manager for Findlay Township.

Following the landslide at Camp Meeting Road caused by heaving rains in the summer of 2018, Findlay Township applied for a FEMA grant in 2022 and was awarded the Phase 1 funding shortly after. However, the funding for Phase 2 of the project was delayed for more than five months. After being asked to help, Congressman Deluzio's office stepped in to communicate directly to FEMA on behalf of Findlay Township. Within weeks of the congressional outreach, FEMA notified the Township that they were awarded the Phase 2 funds.
