Nepal update: Tajani orders staff to be sent to Kathmandu to assist Italian nationals

The Nepalese authorities have issued an update on the number of missing persons involved in the large landslide that struck an area on the Nepal-Tibet border, including two Italians. The Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is carrying out checks with the local authorities, through the Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata and the Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu, and with tour operators for confirmation. To date, around 130 Italian nationals reported to be in the area have been contacted.

On the instructions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, staff have been sent to Kathmandu from the Embassy in New Delhi to strengthen the presence on the ground and provide assistance to Italian nationals.
