RENO, Nev. - As the community continues recovering from the Hawk Fire, the NV Energy Foundation approved $100,000 in charitable grants to support residents and families impacted by the wildfire and related emergency response efforts.
The funding will support three organizations providing critical assistance to northern Nevada communities:
The grants come as northern Nevada continues recovering from a destructive wildfire that displaced families, destroyed homes, and injured members of the community and emergency responders.
"Throughout this event, we saw firsthand just how strong and resilient this community is," said Ryan Bellows, Vice President and General Counsel at NV Energy and NV Energy Foundation board member. "We're grateful to the firefighters, first responders, emergency managers, nonprofit organizations and community partners who worked around the clock to protect our communities and support residents. It's been inspiring to see so many people come together, and we're proud to do our part to help families recover and rebuild. These grants are intended to provide meaningful support to organizations that are helping residents meet immediate needs and move forward," said Bellows.
The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada Fire Fund provides direct assistance to residents impacted by the Hawk Fire and other recent wildfires. The fund partners with the American Red Cross and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada to verify needs, distribute assistance and connect families with additional resources.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada will use the funding to support food distribution efforts in communities affected by evacuations and extended outages, helping ensure residents have access to essential supplies as recovery continues.
The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada will use the funding to support shelter operations, volunteer mobilization and emergency assistance services for impacted residents.
The NV Energy Foundation remains committed to supporting the communities it serves and helping northern Nevada recover from the impacts of the Hawk Fire.
