Your City at Work: From the Mayor's Desk

ICYMI: Check out my monthly message to learn more about the work and various initiatives we're undertaking here in Stamford.

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

MAYOR'S UPDATES

  • Affordable Housing: This week, I visited Stamford Manor, a Charter Oak Communities building that has provided deeply affordable housing for seniors and residents with disabilities for 60 years. As part of my FY26-27 budget, I proposed $2 million in this year's city budget to support the next phase of renovations at Stamford Manor. This funding will advance essential upgrades to extend the building's lifespan and enhance residents' quality of life. As our city continues to grow, it's critical not only to expand our housing supply, but also to invest in the housing stock we already have.
  • School Construction Corner - Westhill Construction Set to Begin: The future of the new Westhill High School is taking shape! With historic funding secured and construction beginning in April 2026, we are officially moving from design to build. And last night, all required local Board approvals have been reached for the inclusion of a new state-of-the-art indoor pool facility as part of the Westhill construction project. This marks a major milestone for the largest school project in Connecticut history. Learn more about this project, here.
  • New York Mets Ferry Service: The New York Mets announced this week that fans traveling from Connecticut to Citi Field will be able to take a ferry. Operating for 24 games across select weekends this season, this new connection will give fans an alternative to driving while enjoying a scenic ride across the Long Island Sound. Read more here.

CITY NEWS

  • Potholes: This winter was difficult on City roads, and over the past week as the weather has warmed, our road maintenance teams have begun working on filling potholes. Currently, City crews are going to the Bronx to collect asphalt and over the next couple of weeks, the City hopes to be at full capacity with its machines. The City is aware of the road conditions and is working to address them, beginning with prioritizing high traffic areas. Repair requests can be submitted at stamfordct.gov/fixit.
  • Beach Permits: Beach permits are now available for purchase online, by mail, or in person at the Cashiering and Permitting Department. Residents are encouraged to buy their permits early rather than wait until beach season! Permits are required beginning on May 1st through September 30th. See the flyer below for more information.
  • Apply for a Special Events Permit: To reserve a pavilion or host events at city parks click here.
