U.S. Route 50, multiple ramps in Jefferson City to close April 10-12

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - U.S. Route 50 and several ramps in Jefferson City are set to close in mid-April for the demolition of a no-longer-used bridge. Detours will be in place, and motorists are advised to plan extra time as backups are anticipated.

From 9 p.m. on April 10, 2026, to 9 p.m. on April 12, 2026, construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to demolish and remove the trilevel bridge over U.S. Route 50 that is no longer in use. Since closing in 1991, this bridge has deteriorated, and there are concerns about potential debris. It makes more sense economically to remove it than to spend funds repairing and maintaining it.

For the safety of the traveling public and construction workers, U.S. Route 50 and multiple ramps at the trilevel will be closed throughout the demolition. All ramps will be closed, except the ramp from westbound U.S. Route 54 to westbound U.S. Route 50.

All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.
