LADWP Crews Continue Steady Progress on West Hollywood Trunk Line Repairs

LOS ANGELES (July 18, 2026) - Following the completion of the installation of the replacement 25-foot-long pipe in West Hollywood, LADWP crews continue to make steady progress to repressurize, test and disinfect the trunk line. There is currently no projected completion date, but work will continue around the clock, and crews are moving as efficiently and safely as possible to complete the complex repairs and reopen the streets.

With the new segment now installed, the pipe was refilled and repressurized and no leaks were found. Once the pipe repair is confirmed to be sound and the pipe weld leak-free, the pipe will be disinfected with chlorine and tested to ensure it meets all regulatory requirements. After the water quality testing is complete, the water will be dechlorinated and safely discharged to the storm drain system.

Upon completion of repairs, water will be fully restored, and crews will complete backfilling and restoring the street. All pavement repairs will be conducted in accordance with the City of West Hollywood's street standards and approved material specifications, ensuring compliance with municipal requirements.

Customers continue to have reliable and safe drinking water. We still ask customers in the affected area to conserve water. This is because the area is receiving water through an 8-inch pipe. Sunset Boulevard remains closed to traffic, with the closure area reduced to the section between Sherbourne Drive and San Vicente Boulevard along with nearby streets closed have limited access, including at Cynthia and San Vicente, for public safety. The public is asked to avoid the area for their own safety and to abide by local officials' guidance and direction.
